Pakistan is nothing less than a miracle country.
Keeping all the international/political biases aside, making of Pakistan itself is next to narrating a story of fantastical descending of supernatural beings in a fictional writing. However, this doesn’t stop here, element involving miraculous existence through stormy sea voyages to rough and rocky mountain hiking, stumbling on its way through deep waters and some lush green lands, Pakistan has remained, it has dwindled through bumps and potholes, but it has not given up.
Today, Pakistan lives midst a strategically crucial geography, under a perpetual threat of cross border insurgency from its north-west and west and a serious military onslaught from its mighty East. In the middle of its internal security challenges, it lives on the verge of neighbours who are a constant nuisance, free loaders and in fact sometimes unduly inquisitive of its personal afairs. However, most of its problems are often not seen from the prism of Pakistan’s inconsistent relations with its neighbours and their persistence influence on Pakistan’s internal security paradigm, which make up a great part of its ongoing and future situation.
What does this lamentation mean, at this point in time? – Pakistan need a strong government, a genuinely sincere leadership, a proactive foreign policy, a strong economic road map. Pakistan needs to work triple times more on its loopholes than its counterparts, living at a geographically crucial, yet a vulnerable crossroad between many ambitious players it must take up the challenges head on. But the question remains – HOW?
And there is one word – LEADERSHIP!
After the demise of brave and capable leadership from Pakistan movement lead this nation to making of Pakistan, the unfortunate country remained deprived of a competitive leadership. One after the other, the growing self obsession and power hunger among the powerful circles, inter-institutional conflicts, kinship and political/feudal patronage based system turned this country into a wrestling ring between power brokers rather formulation of leadership.

Remember how Nelson Mandela brought his country out of unflinching racial crisis?
“During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.” – Mandela
Remember how Abraham Lincoln had lead his country?
“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power” – Lincoln
Ponder over the struggles of Martin Luther King.
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others? Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter” – Martin Luther King
Most of all the leader of the nation himself, Muhammad Ali Jinnah – had he not displayed utmost integrity and strong leadership qualities, Pakistan would be a long lost dream.
Now let us all remember what Nawaz Sharif did?
He said: O my people! Panama Leaks are legal. I bet you didn’t know that, but i did. *Pun intended*
How Pakistan lives under a perpetual threat from its unique yet threatening geographical position on the world map? – On its East is India. On North-West is Afghanistan and On its West in Iran
Consider for once living beside a neighbour who is eternally stuck with the idea of taking over your property, or if doesn’t succeed finds alternate ways to poke into your domestic matters and crosses over your back yard behind your back. Well, we are sure that’s quite a disturbing sight to imagine. Wait! That’s a reality.
India challenged Pakistan’s existence right from the inception. The day Pakistan was born, India have remained skeptical of its survival, yet it stays. An example of this could be stated in the historical perspective of Indian annexation of East Pakistan, while it has openly declared a significant role it has played in backstabbing Pakistan while providing logistical and military support to Mukti Bahni terrorist organization in East Pakistan, committing heinous crime of state-terrorism, violating international law trespassing Pakistan’s territorial sovereignty. However, This doesn’t end here, Indian neighourhood is playing even a greater game at infiltrating its espionage missions, covert operations and funding to Balochistan Liberation Army BLA terrorists in Balochistan province of Pakistan harboring one of the most important sea ports called Gwadar to be functional in about a year or two, giving Pakistan a crucial trade and sea route to Middle East, Central Asia and other parts of the region. Nevertheless, question remains, what does Pakistan have to do to counter these threats? – We say it again, it needs LEADERSHIP!
Let me tell you a story. There was a young man, homeless, shelter less, and had nowhere to go, one fine day, he asked his neighbor to let him stay over. The neighbour was kind-hearted, he not only provided the young man a place to stay, but also offered him food and employment. Years passed by, young man grew older. Oblivious of the fact that the young man came from a family of “boastful braggers”, he was astonished to the revelation that the young man (now older) has filed a law suite against him of an illegal detention and harassment. Not just that, the young man (now older) had asked him to give him his share from the property. The neighbor was stuck, so is Pakistan. Now Pakistan needs to show, who is the leader here.
“Among the many people and races who have come in contact with Indians and influenced India’s life and culture, the
oldest and most persistent have been the Iranians.”
The late Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru writes in his book Discovery of India.
Iran and Pakistan share a deep rooted historical ties, yet complicated ones. Greatly influenced by sectarian influences, Iran has remained at arms length seeing Pakistan cosying up with its arch rival Saudi Arabia.
On the other hand, Pakistan finds it a distressful matter seeing Iran cosying up with Pakistan’s arch rival India. Especially while Balochistan province of Pakistan is a victim of cross border insurgency, and has found evidence of Indian elements funding terrorism in Balochistan.
Panama Leaks in perspective:
Panama paper controversy is not something unexpected, nevertheless it has placed many political careers at stake. Therefore, the question of Leadership repeatedly towed above is answered here. The lack of sincere leadership in Pakistan remains an unresolved problem.
